Huguley Memorial Medical Center, Careity Foundation and The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders have opened the Careity Breast Care Center at Huguley. A grand opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be on Thursday, February 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Located inside The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders at Huguley, the new Careity Breast Care Center is designed in a western theme, which complements their slogan “Cowgirl Up for Early Detection.”
“Careity Breast Care Center was designed as a warm, inviting space to provide women a comfortable, secure place to participate with their doctors in breast cancer care. On one convenient campus, breast cancer patients can receive support services and medical care, from screening and diagnostics to surgery, chemotherapy and radiation,” says Lyn Walsh, president and co-founder of Careity Foundation.
Careity Breast Care Center at Huguley features a certified breast health navigator to reduce patient stress and anxiety and to increase patient knowledge and support. She serves as a guide to newly diagnosed patients, provides answers to questions or concerns, identifies community resources and coordinates educational and support programs.
Other support services available at the Careity Breast Care Center at Huguley include an education room, oncology massage therapy, nutritional support, psychotherapy, genetic testing, social services, spiritual support, guided imagery, lymphedema prevention and treatment, and a survivor wellness program.
Careity Foundation (
www.careity.org) is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing on-site support services for economically challenged cancer patients, to promoting early cancer detection, and to providing relief to children with devastating diseases and life threatening illnesses.
For two years, Careity Foundation and Huguley Memorial Medical Center have teamed up for the 24-hour Mammography Marathon. During the Mammography Marathons, more than 200 area women received free digital screening mammograms at the
Huguley Imaging Center.
The grand opening reception will feature the unveiling of the “Careity Truck,” which was donated by Chesapeake Energy, door prizes and refreshments. For questions or more information please call 817-882-4100.
