Huguley Fitness Center has recently become a certified CrossFit training center.
CrossFit, a core strength and conditioning program, is designed to optimize physical performance in ten fitness domains: cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The workouts are diverse physical challenges and include aspects of weightlifting, sprinting, gymnastics, powerlifting, plyometrics, and kettleball and medicine ball training.
“CrossFit enhances a person’s competency at all physical tasks and develops a total fitness that is broad, general and inclusive,” explains Jeff Quattlebaum, certified CrossFit fitness instructor at
Huguley Fitness Center. “Many of our CrossFit participants have found this a fast, efficient path to improved strength, speed and endurance, no matter what their sport or experience.”
CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police and firefighting academies, military units, martial artists and elite and professional athletes. However, the same routines are also used for everyone from housewives to the elderly with modified intensity and load.
“I like it because it’s something different every time and it brings quick improvement. After just three weeks, I noticed better muscle definition,” says Huguley Fitness Center member Dawn Johnson of Burleson.
Individual and group classes are available. Call 817-568-3131 for details, availability and pricing.
Huguley Fitness Center also features two swimming pools, basketball and racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor tracks, group exercise classes, free weights, cardio equipment, and more.
