Patient Growth Prompts Relocation for Huguley Center for Wound Care

6/9/2008

The Huguley Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine will relocate within Huguley Memorial Medical Center to accommodate the large increase in patient visits since the clinic opened in 2006.

“Our community has a real need for expertise in healing difficult wounds.  We have become the busiest wound care clinic in Tarrant, Johnson and surrounding counties,” said Nikki Ralston, P.T., C.W.S., M.B.A., director of the Huguley Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine.  “Our outcomes surpass the national average; now we also offer patients more privacy and a more pleasant environment.”

Opening in mid-June, the new location is specifically designed and equipped for wound care patients.  Two of the five private treatment rooms are equipped with podiatry chairs for patients with wounds of the foot or lower leg.  Doors open at a push of a button to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers more easily.  Wood-tone floors and cabinetry and a nearby atrium with leather sofas and tapestries create a more relaxed, comfortable setting.

In 2007, the Huguley Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine had significantly better outcomes than the average of wound care centers nationwide.  Huguley Center for Wound Care was able to heal 94.89% of problem wounds, compared to a national average of 83.67%.  Net Health Systems, the leading provider of clinical information systems in wound care, evaluated data from 730 facilities nationwide.

Patient volume has doubled from a year ago.  The Huguley Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine has added an additional physician, nurse, physical therapist and wound care tech in the last year to keep up with its growth.
