Luis Retamozo, M.D., has joined Huguley Medical Associates and will open a family practice office in Keene in early June. As a board-certified family practitioner, Dr. Retamozo will provide initial, continuing and comprehensive care for families and individuals of all ages and both sexes.
Dr. Retamozo has practiced family medicine in Texas for almost 20 years. Most recently, he has been an assistant professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in the Department of Family Medicine and a family physician at the Diamond Hill JPS Clinic. His extensive experience in family medicine encompasses urgent care centers, hospital-based practice, pediatric clinics and private practice, including a family practice at Huguley from 2002 to 2004.
Services that Dr. Retamozo will provide include:
• Preventative services: well-child visits, adult physicals, gynecological care and Pap smears
• Chronic disease management, including diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease and hyperlipidemia
• Acute illness, such as sinusitis, ear infection and strep throat
• In-office surgical procedures: mole and cyst removal and biopsy, ingrown toenail removal, abscess drainage and others
• School, camp and sports physicals
• Immunizations for all ages
• EKGs and labwork.
Dr. Retamozo completed a family practice residency at University of Texas, Hermann/LBJ Hospitals and Community Health Centers in Houston, Texas. He has also completed a surgical residency at National Medical Center in Mexico City. He fulfilled his internship requirements at Interboro General Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He earned his medical degree at Guadalajara Autonomous University in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Construction is complete on the new medical office, located at 213 W. Hillcrest Drive. With a distinctive blue roof, the clinic features six exam rooms, including one for pediatric patients. A procedure room and a lab draw area give patients access to simple procedures and some diagnostic tests close to home. The 2,300-square-foot facility has ample, convenient parking and wheelchair accessibility, and it is large enough to accommodate a second physician in the future.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Retamozo will offer same-day appointments at his clinic at 213 W. Hillcrest Dr. in Keene. For appointments or more information, he may be reached at 817-645-6852 beginning May 27. Dr. Retamozo accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance plans.
