Huguley Memorial Medical Center has appointed Caryl Bean as Volunteer Services Coordinator, effective immediately. She will interview and orient new volunteers, coordinate the summer teen volunteer program, oversee schedules, and provide ongoing training for the hospital’s 211 volunteers.
Mrs. Bean has worked as an office assistant for Huguley Memorial Medical Center for eight years, primarily in the marketing and development department but also in the volunteer office. She has served as an administrative assistant for Houston General Insurance Company and Texas Wesleyan University. She lives in Joshua.
“Having worked in the volunteer and marketing departments for eight years, Caryl is familiar to most of our volunteers. Caryl has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and will bring a wealth of knowledge and talent to her new position,” said Kent Tucker, vice president of ancillary services.
In 2007, Huguley volunteers served 50,908 hours, the equivalent of 25 full-time employees, in 46 departments of the hospital. In addition to donating their time, the volunteers raised more than $24,000 for the hospital in vendor sales of books, uniforms and art, as well as sales of volunteer-made crafts, coffee, baked goods, mums, and popcorn.
